idyllic

Hi Niall thanks for joining us here today. Now you cats know how make big music and you are obviously very well-schooled and huge fans of music which is plain to hear on your releases. Now before we get to the track that tripped my trigger let's get a little background. Take us into your fandom and then how you  went from being a fan into making your own music.

Niall ; Hi Darren. Essentially, every band member’s music endeavour is unique and the method of us finding our own ways into the band have no direct alignment. Ben and I grew up together, we’ve always had similar enjoyments, typically with the football, (when United aren’t making it hard to enjoy), and our music tastes are similar also. It was only when we started bashing ideas together as teenagers where the ideas of serious musical performance started, if not for Ben, I likely would never have ventured down a musical path. The band itself formed when we went to uni, Ben came here, to Liverpool and I was in Huddersfield, so the distance between myself and the other band members was quite afar. Despite this, we persevered, worked tirelessly and rehearsed as much as possible. It became a group dream, more than an ambition, it became necessary to us all. With the formation of Idyllic as a musical entity, we also formed immensely close, strong friendships, Meg, Josh, Ben, Harry and myself all strive for this as a collective unit and that makes the ambition of making music and performing a lot easier. As everyone is aligned on the same dream, giving it everything as it’s become all we really know.   Great to hear all the best bands are more like gangs rather than just together for the music so that is great to hear. Now when you set about writing for the band are there parameters that you keep too or is it just totally organic and you let the music flow through you all to its end goal as a complete song? N ; The music comes completely naturally, and we actually make a strong effort to not let ourselves be bound by a formula or parameters. We are always pushing ourselves to do something different with each tune, whether that is a half time middle eight or a certain type of rhythm we haven’t explored yet. The music comes about when someone brings an idea into the rehearsal room, whether it be a bass line, a guitar riff or a melody. We then work on putting it together in the room. This allows everyone to impose their individual influences on the songs and is why no two songs are the same.

OK cool. So, what about the band name it does what it says on the tin however was that just what you wanted for a name, or does it run  a little deeper?

N ; The band name derives from the state of idealism. Idyllic is often a word left unused in the spoken vocabulary, this is part of the reason why we named the band as such, we wanted to give a name to this word that’s left relatively untouched. Furthermore, we wanted to add a dynamic of an ‘idyllic’ sound, you can have an idyllic place, time, emotion, but not necessarily sound, we wanted to change this via our own music.

Great insight. OK that's a little background let's get into your released music we shall come to your latest next but first tell us about "everyone Wants To Know" .Now this first catched my eye because of the Classix T.Rex artwork of his singles the so recognisable red and purple colouring and font and indeed on listening to the track this is an updated Bolan boogie track with some very nice tip of hat guitar prices, very Bolan. Tell us about this one

N ; “Everybody Wants to Know’ was written with exactly that in mind! We wanted to add more of pop element into the live set whilst still keeping it rocky. The melody and bass line are inspired by the great Motown and Soul artists, such as Freda Payne, whist the rhythm and lead guitar work is inspired by the likes of Iggy Pop and Bolan. I think we managed to combine these two elements fairly successfully and came up with an exciting track that always goes down well when we play it live.

Yes absolutely nailed it! OK onto the first track of yours that got me hip to you. “Big City Blues”, the first track I heard and it’s your latest track. Now to my glam rock ears I hear a hell of a lot of what I like and also I am sensing a progressive lyric in there also yeah.

N ; ‘Big City Blues’ is a favourite of the band; it came about extremely quickly. We were in the studio recording our single 'The World Is Falling Down' when Ben picked up his acoustic guitar and wrote the melody and chords for the song. Afterwards, it then got put together with the band later that day in the studio, it was a whirlwind! Josh's bassline is amazing, as he manages to keep the groove perfectly whilst adding a harmonic element to the low end of the track, which isn't easy to do. Meg's lead guitar work really steals the show on ‘Big City Blues’, she plays a lot of bluesy and melodic guitar licks and finishes the tune with an extremely cool solo! The track is then rounded off with one of Niall's best vocal takes! The lyrical essence of ‘Big City Blues’ is ultimately to be concisely memorable. The song, musically, speaks for itself, all it needed was some simplistic concise and relatable lyrics to go atop it. The song, lyrically, is devised upon yearning for someone, somewhere, something more. Which is what we wanted as a unit. The idea of waiting for a train to get to someone and starting a new life from there. The ultimate aim for the song is to relate to those who are listening. If a song sounds brilliant but holds no retention with a listener, then it may as well be played on a broken vinyl, dodgy CD. Our ambition is to hit a nerve of memorability amongst our listeners and to give them something, that they’ll firstly sing in their heads, and secondly, at our gigs. We managed to achieve that with “Big City Blues”. The chorus, again, follows such lexical patterns, whilst posing a different time perspective from the first verse. The chorus is more of a recollection, of times that have passed, repeating a theme of yearning, although in this aspect for a different person of the past. The interpretation for this is open for the audience to depict upon themselves. Our ambition is to encapsulate the listener and draw them back in to the song, partly due from the meanings and connotations they can take away themselves.

And there readers is the reason you need to get involved with these cats, just awesome work and a perfect ethos  ! OK Niall so you have put tracks out one by one is that the plan moving forward in these ever-increasing fast  consumption times we are in or are there other plans afoot for your next tracks?

N ; Unfortunately, I think most unsigned bands these days have to put out singles. It isn’t financially feasible to put out long format projects when consumers need new music every two/three months and recording is so expensive.   We are hoping to pick up label interest which will enable us to do an album or an EP but for now we will have to stick to singles!

I hear ya, difficult times but from those times true greatness will always shine through so best of luck! The next track you have coming has a great title can you tell us the vibe behind this track as a teaser?

N ; With “New Moral Saviour” we lean confidently into our indie and reggae influences, attempting to deliver a sound that's both fresh and familiar. It strikes a smart balance between artistic exploration and commercial appeal, making it a standout track with strong mainstream potential whilst still being innovative. The lyrics originally began as a reflection on the life of Polish artist Zdzisław Beksiński, specifically how his upbringing during World War II shaped the dark, surreal nature of his art. As the writing process unfolded, the song evolved into something broader, a meditation on how all forms of governance or societal structure seem inevitably doomed to fail. At its core, it became a song about lifespan, of people, systems, and ideas. What makes the track especially striking is its contrast: musically, it’s bright and upbeat, with a pop-driven melody and indie sensibility, while its lyrics delve into much heavier, existential themes.

Now that right there is something for everyone to get their teeth into and I for one am very much looking forward to it. OK so that's the next track explained. Take us what its next step after that?

N ; The next step is a headline show at The Kazimier Stockroom in Liverpool on July 18th! We’re planning on celebrating the release of “New Moral Saviour” and  having a big party!

OK we shall be keeping an eye out for you here and we wish nothing but the best for the future.  OK lastly anything you want to add for present and future fans.

N ; To end, we’d like to thank everyone who’s been a part of our journey thus far. Whether that be seeing us live, streaming our music or growing familiar with our name. Thank you. Additionally, to those who haven’t come across us yet, we hope you can cherish what we’re making, we hope it makes you feel something and gives you something personal, which you can take onwards. Love One, Love All, Idyllic
